About Us:
“In order to live in heaven after death, we shall have to live in heaven before death”
avowed Maharaj Agrasen, the king of Agroha, born to king Vallabh of Pratapnagar some 5182 years back. Maharaj Agrasen, was king of great administrative skill. His concepts of kingdom and the duties of the king towards his subjects have evolved him as a centurial man. Equality, Nationalism, Socialism and Non-Violence were the principles which formed the backbone of his kingship.

Maharaj Agrasen established the republican state of Agroha. Agroha consisted of 18 state units. The head of each state unit was given a Gotra. All the residents of that particular state unit were identified by that Gotra. It was maintained by Maharaj Agrasen that a nupital alliance could not take place in the same Gotra. That is a girl of “Goel” Gotra could not marry a “Goel boy”‘, but could be married in any of the other 17 Gotra. This rule enunciated by Maharaj Agrasen promoted harmony and brotherhood among all the 18 Gotra represented by state units. This facilitated promotion of unity and nationalism among the state units.

Maharaj Agrasen was a doer (a Karmyogi) who conjured prosperity for all. An adherent of Socialism, he devised a unique rule in order to ensure an egalitarian society. He promulgated that any person coming to Agroha to settle down permanently, shall be given one rupee, one brick, by each resident of Agroha.With the bricks he could build a house for living and with the money so collected he could set up his own business. This way through a small help by each a person could attain a equal status in the society of equals.

The department of Pathology at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences started with one faculty member and four technicians in August 1987. Since then it has grown to twelve faculty members, junior and senior residents, and a large technical staff. The department includes laboratory sections of Histopathology, Cytopathology, Electron Microscopy, Haematopathology, and Clinical Chemistry. Endocrine Pathology, Gastrointestinal and Hepatic Pathology including endoscopic biopsy pathology and Renal Pathology including transplant pathology are some of the more strong areas of the department. Every section is equipped with state-of-art facilities and is actively involved in patient care, postgraduate teaching, and research.

The department of Pathology offers various courses including M.D., Ph.D., and Certificate Course in Renal Pathology. Short-term training and observerships are available in some areas. The department runs an extensive training program including lectures, tutorials, journal clubs, seminars, group discussions, and pathology slide discussions, etc. The post-MD senior residency program offers an opportunity for an excellent work experience in Pathology.

NIZAMS INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES (NIMS), Hyderabad, is a University established under the Act of Andhra Pradesh State Legislature.

The objectives of the institute are:

1. To create a Centre of Excellence for providing medical care, educational and research facilities of high order in the field of medical science in the existing super specialties and such other super specialties that may develop in future, including continuing Medical Education and Hospital Administration
2. To develop patterns of teaching in post graduate level and in super specialties so as to set a high standard of medical education
3. To provide for training in paramedical and allied fields, particularly in relation to Super-Specialties
4. To function as a referral hospital and
5. To provide for post graduate teaching and conduct of research in the relevant disciplines of modern medicine and allied sciences, including interdisciplinary fields of physical and Biological sciences

Inspired by the objectives, the Medical and Management professionals of NIMS are striving for excellence. As part of it, several courses have been organized under different disciplines. NIMS is recognized by University Grants Commission and Medical Council of India.

The administration of NIMS is carried out under the supervision of Governing Council, Executive Board, Director and other statutory bodies.

NIMS is located at the prime centre of the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, and spread over an area of about 23 acres. It has the constructed area of more than six lakh sq.ft. The recently constructed giant structure, i.e., Millennium Block, itself has added an area of about one sixth of the total space.

NIMS also carries out 13 Fellowship courses and several observership programmes for the benefit of the students.

Specialists and Super Specialists are periodically deputed to obtain further training in their branches from Govt. Medical Colleges and Corporate Hospitals.

For the benefit of Paramedical students 13 P.G. Diploma/Diploma Courses are conducted.
In addition, several training programmes are conducted for the doctors, nursing staff, paramedical staff and ministerial staff on various Advanced Technological asceptes. Further several students are guided in computer based hospital project works as part of fulfillment of the courses of MCA, MBA and M.Sc (Computers).

Creating a country imbued with a scientific culture was Jawaharlal Nehru’s dream, and immediately after independence he prepared a grand design to achieve it. Among the temples of modern India which he designed, was a centre of excellence in the medical sciences. Nehru’s dream was that such a centre would set the pace for medical education and research in Southeast Asia , and in this he had the wholehearted support of his Health Minister, Rajkumari Amrit Kaur.

The health survey and development committee ,chaired by Sir Joseph Bhore, an Indian Civil Servant ,had in 1946 already recommended the establishment of a national medical centre which would concentrate on meeting the need for highly qualified manpower to look after the nation’s expanding health care activities . The dreams of Nehru and Amrit Kaur and the recommendations of the Bhore Committee converged to create a proposal which found favor with the government of New Zealand. A generous grant from New Zealand under the Colombo Plan made it possible to lay the foundation stone of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in 1952.The AIIMS was finally created in 1956,as an autonomous institution through an Act of Parliament ,to serve as a nucleus for nurturing excellence in all aspect of health care.

* To develop a pattern of teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education in all its branches so as to demonstrate high standard of medical education to all medical colleges and other allied institutions in India.

Her Excellency Lady Hardinge laid down the Foundation Stone of the college on 17th March 1914. The college was inaugurated on 7th February 1916 by Lord Hardinge. Located on the fringes of Connaught Place in New Delhi, it is extremely accessible and boasts of an excellent staff. The hospital associated with the medical college is one of the oldest hospitals in Delhi.
